Alexandra Teixeira
Ipas Senior Advisor for Community Access
United States
I am currently the Senior Advisor for Community Access Global Programs at Ipas, an organization dedicated to advancing women's sexual and reproductive rights. I am relatively new to SBCC strategies but hold 18 years of related experience working on social justice issues globally using participatory methodologies to unleash collective wisdom and action. I have been with Ipas for 5 years and during my tenure have served as a technical advisor for our Asia programs as well as the Senior Advisor for Organizational Learning. Prior to joining Ipas I worked in women's philanthropy and in policy advocacy focused on advancing sexual rights. As a professional based in the United States I am cautious and conscientious about the role of international NGOs working in the Global South. I am interested in the long-term work of building partnerships across lines of difference from a solidarity and mutual benefit orientation rather than a charity orientation. I bring introspection, compassion and a love of life to the task of transforming power dynamics towards a more just and equitable global society.
